Ask any Mondstadter about the time they met the so-called "Witch Hunter," and you will likely hear of one of three types of reactions.
Those in the first group would tell you that they offered a kind smile before asking if she wanted a glass of Apple Cider. Those of the second persuasion would merely nod vaguely at her words, then ask where her family was. Finally, there are those like Kaeya, the third kind, who would not only listen to her plans of revenge, but also offer their own suggestions, practicable or otherwise.
To Prune, none of these three kinds of treatment is satisfactory.
Nevertheless, she had long since grown used to these responses. She has come to see that it is the fate of the hunter to be utterly misunderstood — and being treated like a child playing house is something she has to face every day.
The fact is, Prune does stand head and shoulders above her peers, and even some adults, in the sheer breadth of her knowledge. Her speech is clear, careful, and organized, and sometimes punctuated by a random factoid thrown in for good measure. The only real indication that she is still just a child is the look of quiet pride that unfailingly accompanies those little-known facts.
But once you get to know her better, you realize that the breadth of her knowledge and understanding is not exactly matched by a corresponding depth — after all, how much of the profound and important can a child really know? Consequently, the "facts" in her arsenal that she is so proud of are often the very ones that lead to her undoing during a "debate." And every time this happens, she bites her lower lip and retreats expeditiously, though not before muttering, "I'll be back."
But it would be a mistake to dismiss her as simply a little girl trying to act tough because of this.
When she says she will be back, return she will. In situations like this, she invariably shows up again the following day, armed with even more notes, more arguments, and an even more mulish look on her face.
Is this stubbornness of hers the grit required of a true hunter or simply childish petulance? This is a question that perhaps even she is unable to answer. One thing, however, she knows for certain: she will settle her score with that "wicked witch" once and for all, no matter how many tries it takes.
